While the various web-based mapping software vendors are continually improving the accuracy of their services, we discovered in past years that folks were sometimes being directed to locations far removed from our village. When using on-line mapping software, your best chance of receiving correct driving directions is to identify us by name - 'New London Historical Society, New London, NH'. If you need to enter a street address, you have two options - '42 Old Village Road' or '179 Little Sunapee Road'. Old Village Road is actually our driveway and our Lauridsen House Welcome Center is at 42 Old Village Road. So, if your mapping software recognizes that location, your chances of finding us are really good. On the other hand, 179 Little Sunapee Road is our official street address, which should also lead you to our driveway.
Both Google Maps and Bing Maps take you directly to our front door, while MapQuest and Yahoo Maps will get you relatively close. However, since these services are constantly being updated, this may change in the future. So, check out the map on this page, which shows where we're located. If you are directed to a location on the southwest side of Little Sunapee Road, between the Main Street / Newport Road intersection and the County Road / Morgan Hill Road intersection, then you should be fine. However, if you are directed to a location on the shore of Little Lake Sunapee or someplace other than what is shown here, then you should find another app to use.
One other suggestion - Once you find yourself on Little Sunapee Road between the Main Street / Newport Road intersection and the County Road / Morgan Hill Road intersection, DRIVE SLOWLY. We are located on the southwest side of the road, our Scytheville House faces Little Sunapee Road, and our sign, which isn't very large, is right next to the stone wall at the front of the property. Unfortunately, there are a few trees along the stone wall, so you may not see our sign in time to turn into our driveway if you aren't attentive.
As a side note, there are no sidewalks along Little Sunapee Road, so you may encounter pedestrians along the way -- just another reason to adhere to the speed limit.
There's an app for that - The Android and iPhone mapping apps use the same technology as the web-based mapping software products. Consequentially, some are more reliable than others. Your best bet is to enter 'New London Historical Society, New London, NH' as your destination, then zoom to the final destination on the map. If the map looks similar to the one on this page, you should be in good shape.

Find Us On Yahoo Maps (Used to be very accurate, but then an update put the village on the wrong side of Little Sunapee Road. Use caution as each of these sites undergo constant updates, some of which may be incorrect.)
