Get Acquainted With The Tablet Tour (1:38 long)

Welcome to the Interactive Tour of the New London Historical Society's Nineteenth Century Village and Transportation Collection.

There are multiple ways to tour the village with a wifi-enabled tablet or smart phone.

The first way is via the Village Map page, which displays a map of the village with embedded "hot-spots". Touch a hot-spot and you will be taken to a web page specific to the selected building. (This works well for tablets in landscape mode but may not work well for tablets in portrait mode or smart phones, because the map becomes rather small.)

The second approach is to use the Building List page, which provides access to all the same building pages, without the touch-sensitive map. This should work well on all devices.

The third approach is to utilize the QR codes which are displayed throughout the village. Use an app on your tablet or smart-phone to "read" the QR code and you will be taken directly to the associated web page. From there, you can either follow the linkage-panel links at the top of the page or you can find another QR code and jump directly to the associated web page.

Recognizing that wifi-enabled devices have a wide variety of screen sizes and many can be used in either portrait or landscape mode, most of our web pages adapt to the screen size and orientation. A tablet in landscape mode will display most of the pages in a two column format, while a tablet in portrait mode or a smart-phone in either mode will always display the page in a single column. (Got a tablet? Spin it ninety degrees and see if the display changes.)

Thanks for visiting!!
