This sugaring diorama was once a prime exhibit at the Big E -- the Eastern States Exposition -- In Springfield, Massachusetts. It gives a realistic picture of how the maple syrup industry was operated in the late 1800s and well into the 1900s, with horse-drawn or oxen-drawn sleds and much manual labor. On the wall beside the diorama is a yoke worn by the men or children who carried the buckets of sap between the trees and the boiler.
